Beginning of a New Era... Chapter 2

First Sunday of March'10 has been marked by me as the beginning of a new era... in my own life, of course! Why, because that's when I began to think seriously about following my passion: Photography, in a much structured way. I had spent a life-time in pursuit of a rewarding career and had almost lost track of what I really wanted to do ever since I was an adolescent.

Well, I went to the Qutub Minar, down south in Delhi, for a photo shoot. I started off in wee hours (well, that's what I will call it at 06:00 hrs) for a 1 hour drive to the southern outskirts of the city to reach there almost at the opening hour. The ticket clerk was not surprised to see his first visitor of the day that I soon realized why! Qutub and its caretakers were quite used to having herds of aspiring photographers by the first ray of sun in the premises. I came to know how exhilarating an experience it could be to rise early for such a novel reason and then pursue it click by click till you got the perfect shot.

Fortunate are those who begin their days with the first rays of the sun... (who said it...? LoL)  

I went on clicking the pictures of my choice one after the other. Within moments I could witness many other enthusiastic photographers joining me who soon started following the suit. I realized how greedy we could become in gathering the treasures spread across us... in this case the treasures were infinite in terms of volume as well as variety. They all were lost in shooting with their cameras within a same premises, maybe the same subjects, yet all with different perspectives. No two pictures shot there would look the same, I was sure.

 Through the eye of the lens they look at a single thing all so differently

 This is when I realized how different we could all be in approach when given a choice. Each one of us is gifted with a talent that is ready to thrive if given the right opening. Any form of art will have enormous... or should I say infinite potential in terms of possibilities. Wow.... what a gyan, man! Is it the resultant of rising early or of following my dream passionately? I really don't know.

Surprisingly, there are not many mantras about good photography except this: practice... practice... and more practice. You just need to have control on three things... the right aperture, the right speed and of course, the right exposure. If you can master it and add to it a pinch of creativity and lo... you've become a pro photographer. This amount of learning can be applied to any section of photography: be it amateur or commercial, such as wildlife, nature, landscape, architectural, corporate product, news, sports, travel, event (specially wedding), celebrity (paparazzi), fashion, glamor, portraits or anything... there is no specific formula.

My effort is to become from just a photographer to The photographer. I had realized this a little harder way that going behind a camera and clicking the button to shoot is not what I wanted to do all of my age. I always wanted to learn photography such that I could call it my first qualification. It seems like the time has come to take a call.
